Diddy Supporters Celebrate Acquittal by Dousing Themselves in Baby Oil Outside Courthouse
A group of Diddy supporters turned heads and raised eyebrows on Wednesday (July 2) after celebrating the music mogul’s partial acquittal in his federal criminal trial with a slippery and theatrical display—featuring baby oil.
Outside the Manhattan federal courthouse, just moments after the verdict was announced, a man was seen pouring baby oil over a woman wearing a blue wig and minimal clothing. The woman jumped around wildly as onlookers cleared a space, cheering and filming the impromptu celebration. Another man joined in, rubbing baby oil across his chest as the crowd chanted, “It’s not RICO, it’s FREAKO,” a phrase first reported by CNN’s Laura Coates.
While Diddy was found not guilty on three major charges—including sex trafficking and racketeering (RICO)—the jury did convict him on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, leaving him facing serious prison time despite the celebration.
The baby oil stunt is more than a random choice—it nods to one of the more lurid recurring themes throughout the trial. Prosecutors alleged that Diddy used baby oil liberally during what were described in court as “freak-offs,” or marathon sex parties involving the mogul, hired sex workers, and sometimes girlfriends. Testimony and investigative reports detailed how baby oil, along with Astroglide lubricant, inflatable pools, and other items, were frequently involved in these events.
Authorities reportedly seized thousands of baby oil bottles during raids on Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami earlier this year. Additional bottles were allegedly found in his hotel room upon his arrest in September.
The bizarre, highly public celebration further underscores the surreal tone that has surrounded this case—where elements of celebrity culture, sex, power, and excess have repeatedly clashed with serious federal charges.
In a final surreal twist, the week before the verdict, Diddy’s son Justin Combs was approached by a woman who allegedly asked, “Can I pee on you?” before adding, “Where the baby oil?”—a comment that echoes the case’s disturbing and unusual details that have captivated the public.
Though the “FREAKO” chants and oiled-up antics marked the day with spectacle, the legal consequences for Combs remain far from over, as he awaits sentencing on the two felony convictions.
