Judge Denies Diddy’s Bail Request, Orders Him Held Until Sentencing
Sean “Diddy” Combs will remain in custody as he awaits sentencing after a federal judge denied his request for bail. On Wednesday (July 2), Judge Arun Subramanian informed the courtroom that he had reviewed written submissions from both the prosecution and the defense before reaching his decision.
The ruling means that Combs, who was found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, will not be granted release ahead of sentencing—despite his legal team’s proposed $1 million bail package and assurances of strict travel limits, drug testing, and co-signers from close family members.
“After careful consideration of both sides’ arguments, the Court finds that continued detention is warranted,” Judge Subramanian said, according to court transcripts.
Federal prosecutors, who opposed Combs’ release, have recommended a sentence of four to five years in prison. While the music mogul was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges, the guilty verdict on prostitution-related counts still carries significant consequences under federal law.
The prosecution also emphasized concerns about Combs’ potential danger to the community and to witnesses who testified during the trial—including Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, whose legal team formally requested the court deny bail.
The denial marks another major blow for Combs, who has been under intense scrutiny in recent months amid multiple lawsuits, investigations, and public backlash. A sentencing date is expected to be announced soon.
