EXCLUSIVE: Pretty Vee Opens Up About The Outlet, Vulnerability and Creating a Space for Healing

As The Outlet makes its highly anticipated debut with Skilla Baby as its first guest, Pretty Vee is inviting audiences into a different side of her world. Known for her humor, vibrant personality and dynamic career across television, film and digital media, she’s now creating a space where vulnerability, healing and honest conversations take center stage.

The Outlet invites audiences to look beyond the headlines and laughter, offering candid discussions about purpose, mental health, relationships, and personal growth. For Pretty Vee, the series represents a deeply personal mission inspired by her own life experiences and a desire to encourage others to embrace authenticity.

In this ItsOnlyEntertainment exclusive, Pretty Vee opens up about the inspiration behind The Outlet, how her bestselling book The Pretty Victory helped shape the series, and why she hopes viewers—especially men—walk away feeling seen, heard, and understood.

Prince Carter: Pretty Vee what inspired you to create The Outlet? 

Pretty Vee: The Outlet was inspired by my curiosity about the mind, what people are really thinking,  feeling, and carrying that the world never gets to see. That curiosity started with my dad.  Growing up in a Caribbean household, love was always there, but emotions weren’t always  expressed. I knew he was carrying things, but he rarely talked about them, and I found myself  wondering what was going on in his mind. That stayed with me. 

The Outlet was created to be a space where people can unplug, be seen, and have the kind of  honest conversations we don’t always make room for. And while we don’t shy away from real  topics, I also wanted to bring laughter into those conversations because I believe healing doesn’t  always have to be heavy. For our first season, I intentionally wanted to focus on men because  I’ve watched so many of the men in my life navigate life’s challenges in silence. As a woman, I  know I’ll never fully understand what it’s like to walk through life as a man, but I wanted to  create a space where they felt safe enough to open up, share their stories, and know they didn’t  have to carry everything alone. I’m so excited for this season because, at the end of the day, I’m  just a girl in a man’s world. 

PC: What do you hope viewers take away from the show? 

PV: I pray this show gives people, especially men, the opportunity to see themselves in these  conversations. So often we look at successful people and assume they have it all together, but the  truth is many of us are carrying the same fears, struggles, and questions. My hope is that  someone watches an episode and realizes they’re not alone. 

I also hope The Outlet helps normalize vulnerability. I want us to get to a place where honest  conversations about mental health, relationships, purpose, and life’s challenges aren’t viewed as  weakness, but as strength. If this show encourages someone to open up, check on a loved one, or  ask for help, then we’ve accomplished exactly what we set out to do.

PC: How has writing your book influenced your personal and professional journey? 

PV: Writing my book, The Pretty Victory: 100-Day Guide to Recenter Yourself and Find Your  Purpose, was a turning point in my life because it required me to slow down and reflect on my  own journey. It taught me that there’s freedom in telling your story and that being vulnerable  doesn’t make you weak. It creates connection. That lesson has carried into every part of my  career and is a big reason why I wanted to create The Outlet. I wanted to build a space where  people feel comfortable enough to tell the stories that often go untold. 

To me, The Pretty Victory is so much more than a book. It’s a movement. I’m constantly asking  the people in my life, “What makes you victorious?” That question didn’t stop when the cameras  started rolling for The Outlet. It became part of the heart of the show. Every guest has overcome  something, and I wanted to create a space where they could share not only what they’ve been  through, but what victory looks like on the other side. I hope those conversations remind viewers  that victory doesn’t always look like a perfect ending. Sometimes it’s simply finding the strength  to keep going. 

PC: What makes this project different from anything you’ve done before? 

PV: People may know me from the skits, the characters, the television shows, the movies, the  hosting, or my book. Every opportunity has introduced people to a different version of me,  but The Outlet is the first time they get to experience all of those versions in one place. 

This isn’t me stepping onto someone else’s platform. It’s me creating my own. A space where  humor, honesty, and meaningful conversations can all exist together. My hope is that every  conversation reminds people that vulnerability is a strength, laughter is healing, and no one has  to navigate life alone. Every guest brings their own story, and every episode is an opportunity for  people to leave feeling a little more understood than when they arrived.

With The Outlet, Pretty Vee is inviting audiences to look beyond the laughter and into the conversations that often go unspoken. Through stories of resilience, vulnerability, and purpose, she hopes to create a space where people feel seen, heard, and inspired to embrace their own journeys.
