Cassie’s Lawyer Urges Judge to Deny Diddy’s Bail Request After Conviction

In a bold legal move following Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent federal conviction, attorney Douglas H. Wigdor—representing singer and former partner Casandra “Cassie” Ventura—has submitted a formal letter to Judge Arun Subramanian, urging the court to deny Combs’ $1 million bail request.

The letter, filed in response to Diddy’s proposed bail package, cites the Bail Reform Act and argues that detention is mandatory following conviction on charges under 18 U.S.C. § 2421—the statute under which Combs was found guilty of two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution.

“We write as counsel for Casandra Ventura (‘Ms. Ventura’) to respectfully request that the Court deny Mr. Combs to be released pending his sentencing,” Wigdor wrote. “Pursuant to the Bail Reform Act, 18 U.S.C. § 1343(a)(2), detention is mandatory post-conviction on these charges.”

In addition to the legal basis, Wigdor voiced serious safety concerns on behalf of his client and others who testified against Combs during the trial.

“Ms. Ventura believes that Mr. Combs is likely to pose a danger to the victims who testified in this case, including herself, as well as to the community,” he added.

Combs was found not guilty of sex trafficking and RICO charges, but the conviction on two federal prostitution-related counts could carry significant prison time. His legal team has submitted a detailed bail proposal that includes a $1 million bond, co-signers from his family, restricted travel, drug testing, and surrender of his passport.

Judge Subramanian is now faced with weighing that request against Wigdor’s warning and the requirements of federal law. A ruling on the bail matter is expected soon.
