The manhunt is officially over. πŸ‘€

Derrick Groves, the last of 10 inmates who escaped from the Orleans Justice Center in New Orleans earlier this year, has been captured in Atlanta, bringing an end to a months-long multi-state search.

According to Deputy U.S. Marshal Brian Fair, Groves was located at a residence in Southwest Atlanta on Wednesday. Authorities say the capture came after a tense standoff involving Atlanta Police and U.S. Marshals.

Groves had been on the run since May 16, when he and nine other inmates made a daring early-morning escape from the New Orleans jail.

After his capture, officials confirmed that Groves will be extradited back to Louisiana, where he’ll be transferred to Angola State Prison β€” joining the other nine escapees who were previously caught.

Authorities say the investigation into how the group pulled off the breakout is still ongoing, but for now, every escapee is back behind bars. πŸ”’
