Shannon Sharpe Breaks His Silence After Being Fired From ESPN

Shannon Sharpe is finally speaking out after news broke that he was let go from ESPN — and he’s keeping it all the way real on his Nightcap podcast.
Sharpe confirmed the rumors, saying:
“I will not be returning to ESPN. I found out earlier in the week.”
But what hit harder than the firing was the timing — which landed right before his brother, Sterling Sharpe, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Shannon says he begged the network to hold off on the announcement until Monday so the spotlight could stay on his brother.
“I just wanted it to be about him… I knew this would overshadow everything he worked his entire life for. And it did. I’m sorry, bro.”
With emotion in his voice, Shannon thanked his fans, ESPN, and everyone who supported him through all his media ventures — Club Shay Shay, Undisputed, and First Take.
“I really enjoyed my time at ESPN. They gave me a platform to grow, to be myself, and to bring my stories and energy to a new audience.”
Despite being at peace with the decision, Sharpe made it clear the headline came at the wrong time — and that’s what truly hurt.
“You’ve been my hero, my role model… and I apologize again. This will be the last time I say it. I love you.”
It’s unclear what’s next for the Hall of Famer, but knowing Unc — he’s far from finished.
