Nearly three decades after Lil’ Kim helped reshape the sound, style and attitude of women in hip-hop, the Queen Bee is preparing to bring one of her most celebrated bodies of work back home for a milestone celebration.

Lil’ Kim will celebrate the 30th anniversary of her groundbreaking debut album, Hard Core, with “Lil’ Kim’s Hard Core Symphony,” a special one-night-only orchestral concert at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre on November 19, 2026.

The black-tie affair will pair Kim’s unmistakable hip-hop catalog with the Illharmonic Orchestra, transforming some of the records that helped define her career into full symphonic arrangements. Fans can expect orchestral interpretations of classics including “Crush on You,” “Big Momma Thang,” “No Time” and “Not Tonight (Ladies Night Remix),” along with additional hits from throughout her career.

For Lil’ Kim, bringing the celebration to Brooklyn carries an even deeper significance.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Kim emerged from the borough before becoming one of hip-hop’s most influential and recognizable figures. Her arrival during the 1990s challenged expectations surrounding women in rap, introducing an unapologetic combination of lyrical confidence, sexuality, glamour and high fashion that would influence generations of artists who followed.

Released in November 1996, Hard Core marked Kim’s debut as a solo artist following her introduction as a member of Junior M.A.F.I.A. Executive produced by The Notorious B.I.G., the album became a defining project of its era and established Kim as a formidable presence in a male-dominated genre.

But the impact of Hard Core extended far beyond its music.

The iconic photos taken on the set of Lil’ Kim’s “Crush on You” music video shoot in 1997 were captured by photographer Anderson Ballantyne.

The album helped introduce a new visual language for women in hip-hop — one where luxury fashion, provocative imagery, femininity and street culture could exist together without compromise. Kim’s fearless approach would eventually take her from Brooklyn recording studios to fashion’s biggest stages, helping build the blueprint for the modern relationship between female rap, designer fashion and pop culture.

Thirty years later, that influence remains visible.

A new generation of women across hip-hop and entertainment continues to draw inspiration from the confidence, imagery and creative freedom Kim championed throughout her career. What was once considered controversial ultimately became part of the mainstream vocabulary of music, fashion and celebrity.

That makes Hard Core Symphony more than an anniversary concert.

It represents a full-circle moment for an artist returning to the city that helped shape her, celebrating an album that helped change the possibilities for women in hip-hop. Reimagining those records alongside a live orchestra also places Kim’s catalog in a different musical setting — allowing songs created during one of rap’s most transformative eras to be experienced through an entirely new lens.

The November 19 performance is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Formal attire will be required for the evening.

Three decades after Hard Core introduced the world to Lil’ Kim on her own terms, the Queen Bee isn’t simply revisiting the past.

She’s giving one of hip-hop’s defining albums its symphony.
