High School Basketball Star Alijah Arenas in Serious Condition After Tesla Cybertruck Crash

Los Angeles, CA – April 24, 2025 — Alijah Arenas, one of the nation’s top high school basketball prospects and the son of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, was rushed to the hospital early Thursday morning after a violent crash involving a Tesla Cybertruck in a Los Angeles neighborhood, TMZ Sports has learned.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4:55 AM after reports of a “trapped patient” inside the wreckage. By the time firefighters and paramedics arrived, all occupants had managed to exit the vehicle — which was found mangled and partially engulfed in flames on the side of the road.
Photos from the scene show the front end of the luxury electric vehicle completely destroyed, though the cause of the crash remains unclear at this time.
Authorities have confirmed that an approximately 18-year-old male was taken to the hospital in serious condition. ESPN later reported that Alijah Arenas, 18, was the individual hospitalized and that he had been placed into a medically induced coma due to the severity of his injuries.
Arenas, widely regarded as a future NBA star, has garnered national attention for his explosive scoring ability and athleticism. He has been a standout player at Chatsworth High School in California, and his performances have drawn interest from top college programs across the country.
His father, Gilbert Arenas, has not yet made a public statement regarding the incident.
His mother, reality TV personality Laura Govan, addressed the heartbreaking situation in an emotional Instagram post just minutes after the news broke.
“I NEED ALL YOURE F***EN PRAYERS,” Govan wrote to her 1.5 million followers, signaling the severity of her son’s condition and pleading for support from the public.
The Arenas family has not yet released an official statement, but the basketball world and beyond have already begun flooding social media with thoughts, prayers, and well-wishes for Alijah’s recovery.
