Antonio Brown To Accept Plea Deal In Attempted Murder Case
Former NFL superstar Antonio Brown is reportedly headed toward a major legal resolution — and it could keep him out of prison.
Brown’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, says the former wide receiver is set to accept a plea agreement in his Miami-Dade attempted murder case that would dramatically reduce the current charge and result in probation instead of prison time. Brown is scheduled to appear in court on September 30, when the agreement is expected to be formally presented.
Brown was originally facing a second-degree attempted murder charge stemming from a May 2025 altercation at a celebrity boxing event in Miami. Prosecutors alleged that Brown got into a fight with Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, then grabbed a firearm from a security staffer and fired two shots while pursuing him. Nantambu told investigators that one of the bullets grazed his neck.
If convicted on the original charge, Brown could have faced up to 30 years in prison, including a potential 20-year mandatory minimum tied to the firearm allegation. Brown pleaded not guilty and has maintained that he was acting in self-defense, with his legal team arguing that Florida’s Stand Your Ground law supported his position.
Eiglarsh says Brown still believes he is innocent and believes he could have prevailed at trial. However, the attorney explained that prosecutors presented an agreement that would replace the possibility of a decades-long sentence with a significantly reduced charge and probation.
“They made him an offer he couldn’t refuse,” Eiglarsh said, according to reports.
The exact reduced charge and full terms of the probation are expected to be clarified in court on September 30. The deal is not final until it is formally entered and approved.
Nantambu’s attorney, Richard Cooper, has also indicated that his client has forgiven Brown and is satisfied with the agreement.
For now, Brown appears headed for a resolution that could keep him out of prison — but the final details will be made official in Miami-Dade court next week.
