D’Angelo and Angie Stone’s Son SwayvoTwain Cast as The Notorious B.I.G. in Snoop Dogg Biopic

A new generation of music royalty is stepping into the story of one of hip-hop’s most legendary eras.

SwayvoTwain, born Michael D’Angelo Archer Jr. and the son of late R&B and neo-soul icons D’Angelo and Angie Stone, has been cast as The Notorious B.I.G. in Universal Pictures’ upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic, Snoop.

The casting places SwayvoTwain in the role of Christopher Wallace, better known as Biggie Smalls, whose influence on hip-hop remains undeniable decades after his death.

SwayvoTwain joins an expanding ensemble led by Outer Banks star Jonathan Daviss, who will portray Snoop Dogg. Myles Bullock has been cast as Dr. Dre, Camron Jones will portray Tupac Shakur, Algee Smith will play Warren G, Tre Hale will take on the role of Suge Knight, and Laya DeLeon Hayes will portray Snoop’s longtime wife, Shante Broadus.

Additional cast members include West Coast rapper G Perico as Big Reecie Cup and Bentley Green as RBX.

Directed by Hustle & Flow filmmaker Craig Brewer, Snoop will chronicle the life and career of Snoop Dogg as he evolved from a young Long Beach artist into one of hip-hop’s most recognizable figures and a global entertainment personality.

Black Panther co-writer Joe Robert Cole developed the film’s original screenplay treatment. Snoop Dogg and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker are producing the project.

The film also represents a major step for Snoop’s growing film and television ambitions. Snoop is set to become the first theatrical release produced under Death Row Pictures’ overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios.

Universal Pictures previously brought another defining chapter of West Coast hip-hop history to theaters with the 2015 blockbuster Straight Outta Compton. In that film, LaKeith Stanfield portrayed a younger Snoop Dogg.

For SwayvoTwain, portraying Biggie carries another layer of cultural significance. As the son of D’Angelo and Angie Stone—two artists whose work helped shape generations of R&B and soul—he now steps into a project centered on another generation of Black music history.

Snoop is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on August 6, 2027.
