Uptown Records Taps 20-Time Grammy Winner Kirk Franklin for Major New Partnership

Uptown Records is making a major statement with its latest signing. 🔥🙏🏽

The recently relaunched label has entered into a new partnership with 20-time Grammy-winning artist, songwriter, producer and gospel superstar Kirk Franklin, joining forces with Fo Yo Soul Entertainment and TRIBL Music Group.

The announcement was made Monday, marking a major new chapter for Franklin and the iconic Uptown brand.

To celebrate the partnership, Franklin is also set to unveil the music video for his latest single, “Thank You for Everything,” featuring gospel legend Karen Clark Sheard of the Clark Sisters.

The collaboration brings together Franklin’s decades-long influence in gospel music with Uptown’s renewed push across hip-hop, R&B and urban music.

Other artists currently on the Uptown roster include Yung Miami, G Herbo, Trap Dickey, 9B Meechie and producer ATL Jacob, giving the relaunched label a diverse lineup spanning multiple corners of Black music and culture.

Franklin expressed his excitement about joining the Uptown family.

“To be a part of the Uptown family is a genuine honor. I feel energized by the entire team’s enthusiasm and support already. It’s a blessing, and I’m beyond thankful and excited for what the future holds. Let’s make history together!”

Natina Nimene, Uptown executive and executive VP of urban audience & artist relations at the Republic Collective, highlighted Franklin’s unmatched influence.

“No one has shaped gospel and sustained its influence from one decade to the next quite like Kirk Franklin.”

Nimene added that the label is honored Franklin entrusted Uptown with his next chapter and the body of work he has planned.

Meanwhile, Phil Thornton, EVP of TRIBL Music Group and Insignia Assets, emphasized Franklin’s lasting impact on both music and culture.

Thornton said TRIBL is proud to collaborate with Franklin, Fo Yo Soul and Uptown Records to celebrate his legacy while helping amplify the music and vision he has ahead.
