Rapper and cultural icon Snoop Dogg is making headlines after sharing his unfiltered thoughts on LGBTQ+ representation in children’s films. During a recent sit-down on Sarah Fontenot’s It’s Giving podcast, Snoop revealed that a family movie night turned into an unexpected conversation he wasn’t ready for.

The West Coast legend recalled taking his grandson to see Disney and Pixar’s 2022 film Lightyear, which featured a same-sex couple. But instead of a simple day at the movies, Snoop said the experience left him caught off guard when his grandson started asking questions mid-film.

“Why my grandson in the middle of the movie like, ‘Papa Snoop, how she have a baby with a woman? She a woman,’” Snoop explained. “Oh s—, I didn’t come in for this s—. I just came to watch the g—— movie. They just said she and she had a baby. They both women. How does she have a baby?”

The rapper admitted he didn’t have the answers in that moment and joked about feeling “scared to go to the movies” because of the unexpected responsibility of having to break down adult topics to kids on the spot.

While Snoop didn’t outright condemn LGBTQ+ representation, his remarks sparked conversations online about how and when sensitive topics should be introduced in children’s media. Fans debated whether his reaction highlighted a generational gap, parenting challenges, or a broader cultural discussion on representation in Hollywood.
