R&B Legend Angie Stone’s Family Files Lawsuit After Tragic Van Rollover & Fatal Truck Crash 🚨🙏

Grammy-nominated R&B powerhouse Angie Stone lost her life earlier this year in a devastating crash — and now her family is demanding justice.

According to a wrongful death lawsuit filed in Gwinnett County, the 62-year-old singer was traveling with her bandmates and loved ones in a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van on March 1, heading back to Atlanta after a show in Mobile, Alabama.

The lawsuit claims the van’s driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off I-65 in Montgomery County before overturning and landing in the left lane. Passengers, including Stone, initially survived the rollover and began trying to escape.

Minutes later, tragedy struck. A CRST tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into the overturned van at nearly 70 mph without braking. The impact ejected Angie Stone, pinning her beneath the wreckage where she died. Fellow passenger Sheila Hopkins was also seriously injured.

Stone’s family attorneys argue the crash was entirely preventable. They allege:

  • The truck’s braking system was defective and failed to engage.
  • The driver was negligent, distracted by headphones, and in violation of federal trucking regulations.
  • Daimler Truck and its safety system maker Detroit Diesel failed to warn users about defects in the Freightliner Cascadia model.
  • The Sprinter van driver was negligent in losing control, and the van’s owner was negligent for hiring and training an allegedly uninsured driver.

The lawsuit seeks wrongful death, injury, and punitive damages, along with attorneys’ fees and costs.

Angie Stone’s funeral was held on March 14 at World of Faith Cathedral in Austell, Georgia, where a host of Gospel and R&B greats — including Tyler Perry, Kirk Franklin, Anthony Hamilton, Keke Wyatt, Tamela Mann, and Musiq Soulchild — paid tribute to her remarkable life and career.

Her passing left a deep void in the music world, but her family is determined that those responsible will be held accountable.
