TYLER PERRY’S ‘BEAUTY IN BLACK’ IS JUST GETTING STARTED: SEASON 3 RETURNS AUGUST 27 AS NETFLIX GREENLIGHTS SEASON 4

The hit Netflix drama officially returns for Season 3 on August 27, bringing Kimmie, Mallory and the increasingly fractured Bellarie empire back to the screen for eight new episodes filled with power struggles, family warfare, revenge and buried secrets.

And before viewers have even seen what happens next, Netflix has already made one thing clear: Season 3 will not be the end.

The streamer has officially renewed Tyler Perry’s drama for a fourth season, reversing an earlier announcement that positioned Season 3 as the show’s final chapter. Perry confirmed that there was more of the Bellarie family’s story he wanted to explore and thanked audiences for continuing to support the series.

The early renewal gives Beauty in Black significant momentum heading into its August return.

Season 3 picks up following the explosive events of Season 2, with Kimmie, played by Taylor Polidore Williams, finally holding real power within the Bellarie empire. Her journey has become one of the show’s defining transformations, taking her from a woman fighting to escape an abusive and dangerous environment to someone now sitting at the very table that once appeared completely beyond her reach.

But power comes with a price.

According to Netflix’s official synopsis, a deadly family feud forces Kimmie into an uneasy alliance with Mallory, played by Crystle Stewart. Together, the two women must navigate blackmail, revenge and long-buried secrets as the Bellarie family turns against itself — potentially putting the future of the entire empire at risk.

That shift places two of the series’ strongest personalities in an intriguing position.

Kimmie and Mallory have spent much of Beauty in Black operating from dramatically different positions within the world of wealth, beauty and power. Now, circumstances may force them to recognize that survival sometimes requires aligning with the very person you once considered an adversary.

For Kimmie especially, Season 3 appears poised to be about more than simply surviving the Bellaries.

It’s about whether she can become powerful enough to beat them at their own game.

Since premiering in 2024, Beauty in Black has leaned unapologetically into the heightened drama that has become synonymous with Perry’s television universe: complicated family relationships, shocking betrayals, wealth, sexuality, ambition and characters constantly fighting to gain — or maintain — control.

At the center of it all is the Bellarie family’s beauty empire, a world where business and family have become nearly impossible to separate.

Season 3 now threatens to tear that world apart from within.

The upcoming season also continues Perry’s expansive relationship with Netflix. Beauty in Black was the filmmaker and media mogul’s first Netflix original television series, extending a partnership that has grown to include multiple films and television projects.

But the surprise Season 4 renewal may be one of the clearest indications yet that Netflix sees more life in this particular franchise.

What was once expected to be the final season has instead become another turning point.

For viewers who have followed Kimmie from the beginning, the August 27 premiere offers the payoff to a transformation several seasons in the making. She entered this world fighting for a way out.

Now she has a seat at the table.

The question is whether the Bellarie empire will still be standing when she’s finished.

Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black Season 3 premieres August 27 exclusively on Netflix. Season 4 is officially in development.
