Legendary musician Stevie Wonder is putting decades-old speculation to rest. During a heartfelt moment on his Love, Light and Song UK tour stop in Cardiff, Wales, the 75-year-old icon directly addressed the persistent rumors that he is not actually blind.

“I must say to all of you, something that I was thinking, ‘When did I want to let the world know this?’ But I wanted to say it right now,” Wonder began. “You know there have been rumors about me seeing and all that? But seriously, you know the truth.”

He then reaffirmed what has been known since his infancy: “Truth is, shortly after my birth, I became blind,” Wonder said. “Now, that was a blessing because it’s allowed me to see the world in the vision of truth, of sight. See people in the spirit of them, not how they look. Not what color they are, but what color is their spirit?”

The powerful moment was met with applause and emotion from the crowd, many of whom have followed Wonder’s decades-long career built on music that transcends barriers of race, language, and perception.

Known for his unmatched contributions to soul, R&B, and pop, Stevie Wonder continues to use his platform to inspire compassion, unity, and understanding — proving once again that vision goes far beyond eyesight.
