Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas shared a heartfelt video on social media showing his 18-year-old son, Alijah Arenas, returning home from the hospital after surviving a serious car accident involving a Tesla Cybertruck. The video captures Alijah walking into a room filled with balloons, flowers, and a “Welcome Home” sign, surrounded by family and friends celebrating his recovery .
The accident occurred on April 24, 2025, in the Reseda area of Los Angeles, when Alijah’s Cybertruck collided with a tree and a fire hydrant, causing the vehicle to catch fire. Bystanders heroically pulled him from the burning vehicle. He was placed in a medically induced coma due to smoke inhalation but has since made a remarkable recovery, with no major injuries reported .
Alijah, a standout high school basketball player committed to USC, is now walking and talking, and his family expresses deep gratitude to the first responders and medical team. Gilbert Arenas humorously referenced his son’s favorite song lyrics in the video, highlighting the family’s relief and Alijah’s resilient spirit .
The Arenas family continues to request prayers and support as Alijah embarks on his journey to full recovery.
