Floyd Mayweather Drops $175M Lawsuit Against Former Business Associates

Floyd Mayweather is stepping away from his massive legal battle against several former business associates — at least for now.

According to court filings, the 50-0 boxing legend has withdrawn his lawsuit against Jona Rechnitz, Ayal Frist, Alexander Seligson and Frist Apex Ventures in New York Supreme Court. The case was dismissed without prejudice, meaning Mayweather can potentially bring the claims again in the future.

Mayweather filed the lawsuit in May, alleging that the defendants improperly diverted or mishandled significant amounts of his money through various business dealings. His allegations included money connected to real estate transactions, jewelry valued at nearly $100 million, and the sale of a private jet. He sought damages of at least $175 million.

The defendants previously pushed back strongly against the allegations, with an attorney describing Mayweather’s claims as “utterly baseless” and saying they were backed by documentary evidence.

Mayweather’s attorney, Leo Jacobs, confirmed the withdrawal and said the decision was made to withdraw the claim without prejudice. The reason for the move has not been publicly established.

A source connected to Rechnitz’s side told TMZ that the defendants were preparing to respond to the lawsuit and claimed their filing would include documents disputing Mayweather’s allegations. That characterization comes from the defendants’ side and has not been established as a court finding.

For now, Mayweather has walked away from this particular lawsuit — but because it was withdrawn without prejudice, the legal door remains open for him to potentially file the claims again.
