Bobb’e J. Thompson Sentenced to 30 Months in Federal Prison Over Gun Charge

Bobb’e J. Thompson, the former child star known for playing Stanley on That’s So Raven, is headed to federal prison after being sentenced to 30 months for a gun charge.

A judge in Iowa handed down the sentence Thursday, nearly one year after authorities say Thompson was pulled over while driving 104 mph in a 70 mph zone.

According to prosecutors, officers searched Thompson’s bag during the traffic stop and allegedly found packages of marijuana purchased from a dispensary along with a loaded .40-caliber handgun. Authorities said the firearm had been reported stolen from a vehicle in Kansas City, Missouri.

Thompson pleaded guilty to the federal gun charge in April. In addition to the 30-month prison sentence, he was ordered to serve three years of supervised release following his incarceration. He is currently in U.S. Marshals custody pending transfer to a federal prison.

Fans may remember Thompson from his years as a young Hollywood standout. Beyond That’s So Raven, he appeared in films including Role Models, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and Shark Tale, while also landing television roles on The Tracy Morgan Show, 30 Rock and Wild ’N Out.

The case adds to a history of legal troubles involving Thompson. Prosecutors say he was previously convicted in 2022 of battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and prohibited firearm possession.

The former child actor will now serve his federal sentence before beginning his three-year period of supervised release.
