Yung Miami & G Herbo Lead The Return Of Uptown Records As Legendary Label Makes Major Comeback

One of the most iconic labels in music history is officially back in business, and Yung Miami and G Herbo are helping lead the charge.

Uptown Records, the legendary imprint founded by the late Andre Harrell, is relaunching under Republic Collective nearly 40 years after changing the landscape of hip hop and R&B. The revived label has unveiled its first roster of artists, including Yung Miami, G Herbo, and rising South Carolina rapper Trap Dickey.

The relaunch marks a major moment for a brand that helped launch the careers of some of music’s biggest stars, including Mary J. Blige, Jodeci, Heavy D, and Al B. Sure! During its original run, Uptown Records became one of the most influential labels in Black music and helped shape the sound of an entire generation.

Leading the new era is Yung Miami, who recently dropped her latest solo single, “Spend Dat,” as part of the label’s rollout. The City Girls star says being part of Uptown’s revival is both an honor and a major opportunity.

“This is a legendary label being resurrected,” Yung Miami said in a statement. “Uptown already feels like home.”

The new Uptown Records will be overseen by music executive Danielle Price Sanders, who will serve as president of Uptown Records and executive vice president of Republic Collective. Natina Nimene also joins the leadership team as executive vice president of Urban Audience and Artist Relations.

For Chicago rapper G Herbo, signing with the historic label carries deep significance.

“Uptown Records was a flagship for rap music,” Herbo said. “It created the template for superstars in the eighties and nineties. It’s an honor to be a part of its story.”

Founded in 1986, Uptown Records became synonymous with Black excellence in music, culture, and entertainment. Now, with a new generation of talent and leadership at the helm, the label is betting on a blend of legacy and innovation to write its next chapter.

With Yung Miami and G Herbo leading the way, Uptown Records is looking to prove that its influence is far from over.
