Trey Songz Avoids Jail Time In NYC Nightclub Assault Case After Judge Hands Down Conditional Discharge

Trey Songz has officially avoided jail time following his arrest in connection with an alleged altercation at a New York City nightclub.

The R&B singer, whose real name is Tremaine Neverson, was sentenced Wednesday to one year of conditional discharge after pleading to a non-criminal violation of second-degree harassment. The sentence means Songz will not serve jail time or be placed on probation, provided he remains law-abiding over the next year.

The case stems from an incident at the Times Square nightclub DRAMMA, where prosecutors alleged that Songz punched a man in the face during an altercation.

The singer was also arrested in connection with a separate incident at the Midtown hookah lounge Mira, where he was initially charged with felony criminal mischief after authorities alleged more than $1,500 worth of property—including hookahs, DJ equipment and furniture—was damaged.

However, prosecutors later agreed to dismiss the felony charge after Songz’s attorney argued that other individuals—not the singer—were responsible for the property damage.

Earlier this year, Songz pleaded guilty to assault and harassment related to the nightclub incident. But after successfully completing mental health treatment and complying with court-ordered conditions, prosecutors allowed him to withdraw the misdemeanor assault plea.

As a result, he now stands convicted only of second-degree harassment, which is classified as a non-criminal violation under New York law.

His attorney praised the outcome, calling it a favorable resolution to the case.

The legal victory adds another chapter to a series of legal issues involving the singer over the years.

Songz previously pleaded guilty in 2017 after striking a police officer following a concert in Detroit and was arrested in 2021 after an incident at the AFC Championship Game in Kansas City. Prosecutors ultimately declined to pursue charges in that case, and Songz later filed a wrongful arrest lawsuit.

The singer has also faced multiple civil lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct, all of which he has denied.

For now, Trey Songz avoids incarceration and can move forward as long as he stays out of legal trouble during the next year.
