R&B singer Trey Songz is back in the headlines — and this time it’s for a late-night run-in with the law in New York City.

According to prosecutors and reporting from the New York Post, Trey Songz (born Tremaine Neverson) was arrested following an early-morning incident at Dramma Night Club in Times Square. Authorities claim the situation popped off around 4:24 a.m. on December 4, while the singer was partying with his crew.

Prosecutors allege that a nightclub employee informed Trey the venue was closing, which reportedly caused the singer to become “needlessly irate.” The dispute allegedly escalated, ending with Trey punching the worker in the face.

Songz appeared in Manhattan criminal court on Sunday, where he was arraigned on an assault charge connected to the nightclub incident. Court records also show the club employee was granted an order of protection against the singer.

But that wasn’t the only issue that night.

Prosecutors say Trey is also facing a second-degree criminal mischief charge from a separate incident earlier that morning at Mira Restaurant in Kips Bay. Authorities claim the singer caused over $1,500 in damage, allegedly breaking hookahs, DJ equipment, and sofas. A restaurant manager reportedly told police he witnessed the damage firsthand.

Despite the allegations, Trey’s legal team is pushing back.

His attorney, Mitchell Schuster, released a statement saying the situation was misrepresented. According to Schuster, Trey was confronted and surrounded by individuals who instigated the conflict.

“His security intervened to protect him and contain the situation,” Schuster said. “An altercation occurred in the ensuing confusion. Despite being the target of the initial provocation, Trey was arrested.”

Schuster also suggested that public figures are often targeted for headlines and financial gain, adding that Trey is cooperating fully and confident the truth will come out.

Trey Songz is scheduled to return to court on February 18 as both cases continue to unfold.
