Simon Guobadia, Porsha Williams’ Estranged Husband, Detained by ICE

Simon Guobadia, the estranged husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, is currently being held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Us Weekly confirmed. The 60-year-old, originally from Nigeria, is detained at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, according to records from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, obtained on February 21, 2025.

Guobadia, who immigrated to the United States in 1982, has a complicated legal history. He reportedly overstayed his visa multiple times, with the first instance occurring in 1985. Despite his deportation back to Nigeria in 1992, Guobadia was able to re-enter the U.S. shortly thereafter. In 2016, he applied for naturalization but was denied. His immigration status became a public concern when, in February 2024, he was again denied U.S. residency.

Guobadia’s most recent legal issues stem from a broader crackdown on immigration, including President Donald Trump’s 2024 mass deportation plan. In the face of these challenges, Guobadia remained publicly upbeat, sharing a defiant message on Instagram just days before his estranged wife, Williams, filed for divorce after 15 months of marriage.

Williams, who filed for divorce in February 2024, had been married to Guobadia since November 2022. The couple’s divorce is still ongoing, with Williams having been awarded sole possession of their shared home. A prenuptial agreement was signed before their marriage, and the legal proceedings are expected to continue as Guobadia remains in ICE custody.
