Sean Kingston Sentenced to 3.5 Years in Federal Prison For Wire Fraud

Sean Kingston has learned his fate in his high-profile federal wire fraud case — and it’s a mix of good and bad news for the “Beautiful Girls” singer.

On Friday, a Florida judge sentenced Kingston to 42 months (3.5 years) in federal prison, a punishment that lands right between the 2–2.5 years his lawyers requested and the six years prosecutors were hoping for.

Back in March, Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, were convicted of running a $1M fraud scheme that targeted businesses selling jewelry, luxury cars, and other high-end goods. Prosecutors proved they would falsely claim to have sent payment transfers, then keep the goods even after the transactions failed.

Janice received a 5-year sentence, while Kingston’s lawyers argued for leniency, highlighting his clean criminal record and extensive community service — including personally volunteering hours to help the less fortunate. They even asked the judge to consider home confinement so Kingston could repay his victims using future music profits.

Despite the lighter sentence, Kingston will still have to pay back the stolen money. The judge made it clear: the good deeds don’t erase the bad business.
