Sean Kingston Finally Posts $100K Bond, Released to Home Detention Until Sentencing
Sean Kingston has officially secured his release from federal custody after posting a $100,000 bond, reversing earlier claims from his legal team that he wouldn’t be able to raise the funds. The update came late Tuesday, following a short hearing before U.S. District Judge David S. Leibowitz where Kingston’s financial situation was called into question.
“Mr. Kingston’s bond has been posted, and he is in the process of being released,” his attorney, Zeljka Bozanic, confirmed in a statement to TMZ.
The Beautiful Girls singer had previously agreed to a layered bond arrangement that included a $200,000 cash bond and a $500,000 personal surety bond, backed by real estate. The judge granted Kingston’s release under the condition that he remain under strict home detention until his sentencing hearing on July 11.
Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, were both found guilty last month of one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. The charges stem from an alleged scheme in which the pair defrauded multiple individuals and companies out of high-end goods and services by leveraging Kingston’s celebrity status. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
The legal saga began in 2023 when Florida man Ariel Mateos sued Kingston for allegedly failing to pay for luxury electronics. Mateos’ attorney, Dennis Carr, claimed Kingston used his fame—and a fabricated connection to Justin Bieber—to manipulate sellers into releasing items before payment.
“He’s got basically a script,” Carr said at the time. “He says that he works with Justin Bieber and that he obviously puts on a big show here. This is a rental house. He doesn’t own it, and he lures people using his celebrity into having them release things without him paying for it — and he simply never pays.”
The investigation ultimately led to a raid on Kingston’s Florida home and the arrest of both him and his mother. During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Kingston had failed to follow through on payments and promises of social media promotion, which were allegedly central to the scam.
Despite the grim outlook, Kingston shared a heartfelt message to his mother following the verdict. Posting a photo of Janice Turner to social media, he captioned it:
“My only queen forever. Love you!!!! I promise you this is not the end! [broken heart emojis]”
As he awaits sentencing, Kingston will remain under federal watch — this time, from the confines of his own home.
