Ray J Breaks Silence About Rumors He Played a Role in Whitney Houston’s Death

Ray J is finally addressing long-standing rumors suggesting he had something to do with the tragic death of music icon Whitney Houston. In a candid sit-down on Cam Newton’s Freaky Friday podcast, the singer and reality star became emotional as he set the record straight once and for all.
“I love Whitney. I was with Whitney every fing day. She’s one of the most important people to me,*” Ray J began.
“Niggas are saying I was in the room when she died. Bro, that’s the biggest cap I’ve ever heard.”
Ray J, who had a close relationship with Whitney in her final years, explained that he wasn’t even present at the Beverly Hilton Hotel when she passed away in February 2012. He recalled receiving the news while on his way to meet her for an event.
“I just talked to her on the phone. I pull up, I got my shoes, I’m ready to go. And then boom—she’s not there no more. It’s over.”
He also addressed the confusion surrounding reports that he discovered Whitney’s body.
“CNN says Ray J found her. Then ten minutes later, it’s, ‘Oh no, Ray, her bodyguard.’ That st’s ten minutes later, bro. You get what I’m saying?**”
Ray J made it clear that the misinformation has haunted him for years, especially the idea that he was responsible for Whitney’s death.
“To make me that person, when I wasn’t even there—and then to put ‘murderer’ on top of that? But I just solely got away with it? Come on, man.”
When asked if he and Whitney ever used drugs together, Ray J gave a firm denial.
“I’ve never done one drug with Whitney.”
“And when people ask me if Whitney did drugs, come on… you already know certain answers. I could tell you about me.”
He admitted that after her death, he spiraled and tried hard drugs for the first time in his life due to the emotional trauma.
“I was so fed up after that sht happened… I didn’t know what was going on, bro. I was totally in awe of it.**”
Out of respect for Whitney’s legacy, Ray J declined to go into detail about witnessing her drug use directly, but emphasized her strength and control over her life.
“She’s Whitney. She’s a boss. She was in control.”
The heartfelt interview marks the most in-depth Ray J has spoken about Whitney’s passing—and a clear attempt to clear his name from years of speculation and pain.
