Leah Remini Opens Up About Friendship With Jennifer Lopez: “The Love Is Never Lost”

Leah Remini is shedding light on her decades-long friendship with Jennifer Lopez — and setting the record straight about where they stand today.

In her recent Us Weekly cover story, the 54-year-old actress and activist opened up about reconnecting with Lopez, 55, following their respective divorces. “Right after the divorce, we’d text each other loving messages of support,” Remini shared, referring to her split from husband Angelo Pagán and Lopez’s finalized divorce from Ben Affleck earlier this year.

Despite speculation about a fallout between the two women — especially after Remini was absent from Lopez’s 2022 wedding to Affleck — the King of Queens alum insists there was never any bad blood. “Sometimes you don’t talk to people every day like you used to, but that doesn’t mean the love is lost,” she explained. “Friendships ebb and flow. That doesn’t mean we’re at odds.”

Remini, who famously left Scientology 12 years ago, noted that her post-Scientology journey caused her to retreat from public life for a time. “I really retreated [after leaving],” she admitted. “But also not really wanting to leave the house that much. I started to come out a bit but was still careful and cautious.”

Now in a new phase of her life, Remini says she values her connections more than ever — even if they look different. “I cherish my friendships and not everybody is meant to be in your life in the way that they were,” she said. “When you grow out of that person that you were, that doesn’t mean that you are at odds with them.”

Remini and Lopez first met in 2004 at an industry event and instantly hit it off. Their bond remained strong for years, with Remini publicly supporting Lopez through high-profile relationships, motherhood, and career milestones.

Though Remini was noticeably absent from Lopez’s Georgia wedding to Affleck, sources at the time said she missed the celebration to help her daughter, Sofia, move into college — not due to any personal issues with the bride.

In her own words, Remini makes it clear: “I have many friends that I don’t talk to every day. That doesn’t mean we’re at odds — it’s just that I’m at a different place and so are they.”
