Chris Brown Pleads Guilty In London Nightclub Assault Case, Avoids More Serious Charge

Chris Brown has officially been convicted in the United Kingdom after pleading guilty in connection with a nightclub altercation that took place more than three years ago.

The Grammy-winning singer appeared Friday in Southwark Crown Court in London alongside co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, where both men pleaded guilty to a charge of affray stemming from an incident involving music producer Abraham Diaw at Tape nightclub in February 2023.

According to court proceedings, Brown and Akinlolu admitted that they “used or threatened unlawful violence” in a manner that could have caused others present to fear for their personal safety.

As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors agreed to drop the more serious charge of attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm, as well as a separate charge of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The guilty plea means Brown has been convicted on the affray charge, while avoiding trial on the more severe allegations.

Brown and Akinlolu are scheduled to return to court for sentencing on October 26, when a judge will determine the penalties they will face.

The case marks another legal chapter in Brown’s career, which has included several high-profile run-ins with the law over the years.

Neither Brown nor his legal team has publicly commented on the guilty plea.
