Lauren London Recalls The First Time She Met Nipsey Hussle

Lauren London and Nipsey Hussle’s love story began in an organic and genuine way, rooted in respect for each other’s work and values. The pair initially crossed paths through Lauren’s admiration for Nipsey’s music. In 2013, she wanted to purchase several copies of Nipsey’s limited-edition “Crenshaw” mixtape as gifts for her co-stars on the show The Game. The mixtape was unique for being sold at $100 a copy, showcasing Nipsey’s bold approach to independent music distribution. Lauren directly contacted him to arrange the purchase, and this led to their first interaction.
Their bond strengthened quickly after that first connection. London, in interviews, has spoken about being drawn to Nipsey’s intelligence and authenticity. Nipsey, too, admired Lauren’s independence and strength, which were core to her public persona. Although the couple kept their relationship private for a while, their public appearances later revealed how deeply they connected on personal, cultural, and professional levels.
Together, they represented a power couple not just in the entertainment industry but as community figures, with both dedicated to promoting self-sufficiency and giving back. The couple welcomed their son, Kross Asghedom, in 2016, further cementing their family bond.
Lauren has often reflected on how her relationship with Nipsey helped her grow spiritually and emotionally, and even after his tragic passing in 2019, she continues to honor his legacy, particularly through her ongoing advocacy work in the Los Angeles community.
