Ray J Takes Another L! Judge Refuses To Dismiss Kim Kardashian & Kris Jenner Defamation Case

Ray J isn’t getting off the hook just yet! The singer and entrepreneur has suffered a setback in his legal battle with Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner after a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge rejected his attempt to have their defamation lawsuit thrown out.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the judge denied Ray J’s request to dismiss the defamation and false-light claims brought against him by Kim and Kris.

Kim and Kris sued Ray J over statements he allegedly made claiming the mother-daughter duo were involved in some type of federal racketeering investigation and suggesting the situation could be worse than the legal troubles surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Ray J denied defaming either woman. His legal team argued that his comments were exaggerated opinions and claimed some of the statements were made while he believed he had already ended a livestream, only to later realize the broadcast was still active.

The judge wasn’t convinced there was enough to toss the case at this stage.

According to the ruling, a reasonable person could interpret Ray J’s statements as assertions of fact, while questions also remain about whether he knew the livestream was still active when certain comments were made.

That means the case will continue moving forward for now.

The trial is currently scheduled for May 2028, although that date could change following Ray J’s planned appeal.

RAY J SAYS HE’S FIGHTING BACK

Ray J’s attorney, Howard King, told TMZ that the legal team plans to appeal the ruling, arguing that the decision failed to recognize Ray J’s First Amendment rights.

“We will promptly appeal the ruling,” King said, arguing that Ray J should have the right to express his opinion about what he described as Kim and Kris’ “despicable behavior.”

King also said the appeal could pause the proceedings, making a 2028 trial less likely.

But the defamation case isn’t the only legal battle between Ray J and the Kardashian-Jenner family.

RAY J HAS HIS OWN LAWSUIT AGAINST KIM & KRIS

Ray J previously countersued Kim and Kris over an alleged 2023 confidential agreement connected to his infamous sex tape with Kim.

According to his lawsuit, Ray J claims the parties agreed to a deal worth $6 million in exchange for everyone remaining silent about the tape.

Ray J alleges that Kim and Kris violated that agreement by discussing the sex tape on their Hulu reality series.

That countersuit remains pending.

However, the latest ruling only addresses Kim and Kris’ defamation lawsuit against Ray J and does not resolve his separate claims against them.

For now, Ray J’s legal battle with the Kardashian-Jenner family is far from over.

And if his attorney follows through on the appeal, this courtroom drama could continue well beyond 2028. 👀⚖️
