Gilbert Arenas Says He’ll Snitch to Stay Home with His Wife After Bailing Out of Jail For Alleged Illegal Gambling Ring

Gilbert Arenas is back in the headlines — and this time, it’s not for basketball. The former NBA All-Star is out on $50K bond after being arrested for allegedly running an illegal gambling operation in California. But according to him, he has zero plans to end up behind bars again.

During a livestream on Thursday, Arenas made it crystal clear:

“Good luck in court… I’m pretty sure I ain’t gonna be there when it’s starting to go, cause, yeah, I’m snitching.”

The 43-year-old was arrested Wednesday alongside five other people. Each faces one count of conspiracy to operate an illegal gambling business and one count of operating an illegal gambling business. Arenas was hit with an additional charge for allegedly making false statements to federal investigators. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Arenas says one of the arresting officers actually played against him in high school basketball — joking that it was “the best defense he ever played” on him.

His trial is set for September 23, and he could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted on all three charges. But Arenas insists he’s ready to cooperate to stay free — especially since he just married French social media influencer Melli Monaco in January.

“Ain’t nothing wrong with snitching, man… Especially when you got a fine-a** girl at home,” he said.

Prosecutors allege Arenas hosted high-stakes poker games at his Encino mansion. He claims he simply rented the property out and had nothing to do with the alleged gambling ring.

This isn’t Arenas’ first run-in with the law. Fans remember the infamous 2010 locker room gun incident that earned him two days in jail and 30 days in a halfway house. In 2013, he was also arrested for possession of illegal fireworks.

Now, with his freedom — and his marriage — on the line, Arenas is betting that cooperation is his best play.
