Alijah Arenas, the 18-year-old basketball phenom and son of former NBA star Gilbert Arenas, has officially been released from the hospital following a terrifying car crash that nearly claimed his life. According to a new report from TMZ Sports, the young athlete is now “resting comfortably under close watch” as he begins the next phase of his recovery at home.

In a statement shared by both the Arenas and Govan families, they expressed deep gratitude and optimism:

“While his journey to full recovery is just beginning, his spirit remains strong, and he is surrounded by love and support.”

The statement continued with encouragement and hope, saying, “The Govan and Arenas family are preparing for the road ahead with faith and determination, committed to nurturing Alijah back to 100%.” The rep added that Alijah remains “blessed, resilient, and in high spirits,” while again requesting privacy as the family continues to focus on his recovery.

The teen’s remarkable progress follows a harrowing accident in which his Tesla Cybertruck collided with a tree and fire hydrant, erupting into flames. Alijah was trapped inside and suffered significant smoke inhalation, prompting doctors to place him into an induced coma. Miraculously, within days, he was awake, communicating, and even walking with support.

While questions remain about whether Alijah will suit up for USC this upcoming season, basketball is currently far from the family’s top priority. With new head coach Eric Musselman bringing in fresh recruits, there’s speculation that Alijah may redshirt the 2025–2026 season to fully recover.

Regardless of what lies ahead on the court, Alijah’s survival and ongoing recovery are nothing short of inspiring. Continued thoughts and prayers are with him and his loved ones as they navigate this long but hopeful journey.
