Two individuals are now in custody following a deadly road rage incident in Atlanta that claimed the life of 62-year-old Remoin Thomas Patton Sr., the uncle of Outkast member Antwan “Big Boi” Patton.

Authorities say the incident unfolded on June 16 near Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard NW and Rock Street. Patton, who was behind the wheel at the time, became involved in a confrontation with Jabyrion Crumbley, 18, and Janisha Crumbley. During the altercation, Patton was shot in the back, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and crash into a vacant home nearby.

Chris Walker, who was temporarily staying at the property, recalled the chaos. “The car just turned and crashed into the house — right through the double windows,” he said. “I never imagined something like this would happen at the place I’m staying.”

Police arrived on the scene to find Patton suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead shortly afterward. The Fulton County Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death as a gunshot wound.

Jabyrion Crumbley turned himself in on Wednesday and now faces several charges, including murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Janisha Crumbley, arrested on June 20, is accused of hindering the apprehension of a fugitive.

The tragedy has deeply shaken the Patton family. In a statement to Channel 2 Action News, Big Boi paid tribute to his uncle: “Everybody who knows Uncle Moonie heart aches. He wasn’t just ‘my’ uncle — he was ‘Unk’ to all who met him. A moment of rage has pierced the heart of my family forever. May Uncle Moonie’s soul rest in peace.”

The investigation remains active as authorities continue to gather evidence and piece together the full details of what led to the fatal encounter.
