Tracee Ellis Ross Demonstrates How She Washes Her Underwear While Traveling — Says She Only Packs Two Pairs!

Tracee Ellis Ross is redefining the art of packing light — and she’s not afraid to show exactly how she does it.

The Girlfriends alum and founder of PATTERN Beauty recently shared a hilariously relatable travel hack during her appearance at Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Summit on July 15. While chatting with Editor-in-Chief Jacqui Gifford, Ross revealed she only packs two pairs of underwear no matter how long the trip.

“There’s always one bathing suit, a flip flop and one little dress I can roll up. And there’s always two undies,” Ross told the crowd, sparking laughter and surprise. When asked for clarification, she didn’t miss a beat: “Two undies, that’s it.”

The actress and entrepreneur explained that she hand-washes her underwear with shower gel or bar soap in the sink, rinses them thoroughly, and hangs them on a towel rack to dry. “If I’m gone for a month on this trip, you can’t pack a month’s worth of underwear,” she said. “How do you do that? They take up a lot of space.”

Proving she walks the walk, Tracee recently took to social media to show fans her real-life method for staying fresh while on the road. In a light-hearted and stylish video, Ross demonstrated her washing-and-drying routine — all part of her philosophy of traveling smart and solo.

The reveal comes ahead of the premiere of her new Roku series, Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross, debuting July 25. The show, which she hosts and executive produces, will showcase Ross’s globetrotting adventures as she dives into food, fashion, culture, and art — all while flying solo.

“I’m a solo traveling broad and I want y’all to come with me as I explore!” she wrote on Instagram. “I hope this show reminds all of us that we can live our lives courageously on our own terms and be our best selves, by ourselves, out in the world.”

One thing’s for sure: Tracee is packing light, living loud, and inspiring others to do the same — even if it means traveling the world with just two pairs of panties.
