THE GAME SUES OVER ‘DRILLMATIC’ ROLLOUT! Rapper’s Company Claims $500K Marketing Budget Was Left Sitting on the Table

The Game’s company is taking legal action over what it claims was a major missed opportunity surrounding his 2022 album “Drillmatic — Heart vs. Mind.”

According to a new lawsuit obtained by TMZ, 100 Entertainment Inc. claims Universal Music Group (UMG) and Virgin Music agreed to provide $500,000 for marketing and promotion of the album.

The lawsuit alleges that shortly before the album’s release, both sides approved a detailed promotional budget that included money for music videos, digital advertising, international promotion and $125,000 specifically earmarked for radio.

But according to 100 Entertainment, only about one-third of the promised marketing budget was actually spent, leaving more than $320,000 unused.

The company further claims that none of the $125,000 allocated for radio promotion was spent. It also alleges that money that was used for promotion was later recouped from The Game’s royalties.

The lawsuit argues that the lack of promotional spending hurt “Drillmatic” during what 100 Entertainment considers the album’s most critical period — its initial release.

The company claims the album could have performed better commercially if the full marketing and promotional budget had been utilized.

“Drillmatic — Heart vs. Mind,” released in 2022, reportedly moved the equivalent of approximately 25,000 units in its first week and debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard 200.

Now, 100 Entertainment is seeking at least $500,000 in damages, turning the album’s rollout into a legal battle over who was responsible for putting the money behind The Game’s project.

The allegations in the lawsuit have not been proven in court, and the defendants will have an opportunity to respond.
