Russell Westbrook Announces Retirement W/ Michael B. Jordan Narrated Video

Russell Westbrook has officially said goodbye to the NBA — and he did it his way.

At 37 years old, Russell Westbrook appears to be closing the book on his legendary 18-season NBA career with one of the most cinematic retirement announcements we’ve seen.

Westbrook shared an emotional video on social media Wednesday titled “The Museum of Unspoken Answers,” with his longtime friend and Hollywood superstar Michael B. Jordan providing the narration.

The nearly three-minute video takes viewers through a gallery celebrating some of Westbrook’s biggest career moments — from explosive dunks and signature celebrations to the countless triple-doubles that helped define his career.

Westbrook captioned the emotional video:

“Sometimes you don’t even know when you’ve already watched the end. You had to be there. And now it’s over.”

And just like that… Brodie appears to be closing the door on basketball. 🥹🏀

A CAREER THAT CAN’T BE DUPLICATED

Westbrook entered the NBA in 2008 after being selected fourth overall by the Seattle SuperSonics, who soon relocated and became the Oklahoma City Thunder.

He spent his first 11 seasons in Oklahoma City, where he became one of the most explosive and recognizable players in the league.

In 2017, Westbrook won the NBA MVP award after averaging a triple-double for the season — something he accomplished an incredible four times during his career.

His journey eventually took him to the Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Denver Nuggets and Sacramento Kings.

Over more than 1,300 regular-season games, Westbrook averaged nearly 21 points, seven rebounds and eight assists per game.

He was also named an NBA All-Star nine times and led the league in scoring twice.

The one major accomplishment missing from his résumé is an NBA championship.
