Rudolph Isley Sues Brother Ronald Over Rights to ‘The Isley Brothers’ Trademark
Rudolph Isley is suing his younger brother Ronald Isley over the ‘The Isley Brothers’ trademark. He claims Ronald went behind his back to trademark the name in his name only and has been taking all the profits for himself.
Rudolph says he and Ronald are supposed to split all profits from the band in half. He says they’ve had 50% ownership in the band since their brother O’Kelly died in 1986.
In the docs, Rudolph claims Ronald applied for and was granted the exclusive rights to “The Isley Brothers” for use on “visual recordings and audiovisual recordings featuring music and animation” back in August. However, Rudolph says Ronald needs his approval.
Rudolph says Ronald applied for the trademark in his name in November 2021. The two split profits for a multi-million dollar publishing deal in the past and now he wants the judge to order an accounting to see how much money Ronald has made since the approval of the trademark.
