Rick Ross Speaks Out After Arrest: “I’m Innocent”

Rick Ross is speaking out after being arrested in Miami Beach on domestic violence-related charges and posting $6,000 bond to get out of jail.

The rapper, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center around 6:10 a.m. Thursday, October 1, according to Miami-Dade jail and court records.

Ross, 50, faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery. Both charges are classified as domestic violence-related offenses.

After posting the $6,000 bond, Ross addressed the situation and maintained that he is innocent.

The bond was set at $5,000 on the felony battery-by-strangulation charge and $1,000 on the misdemeanor battery charge.

Ross has retained private attorney Bradley Horenstein to represent him in the case.

The arrest comes days after Ross’ former girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, publicly accused him on social media of physical abuse. According to People, Kendrick alleged that Ross injured her lip during an incident she said happened about a month earlier.

Ross has not been convicted of either charge. The allegations remain pending, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

The Maybach Music Group founder has been a major figure in hip-hop for more than two decades, building his career with hits including “Hustlin’” and becoming one of the genre’s most recognizable figures.
