Lil Wayne’s Son Claims Wayne Wrote Most of Drake’s Music

Lil Wayne has long been recognized as the man who discovered and launched Drake’s career—but now, his son is stirring the pot with claims that go even further.

During a recent livestream, Lil Wayne’s son, who goes by Lil Novi, made a bold assertion that reignited debates in the hip-hop community. When asked to choose between his father and Drake, Novi didn’t hesitate. “My dad wrote most of [Drake’s] sh*t,” he said. “If it wasn’t for my pops, there wouldn’t be no Drake.”

The statement instantly sent waves across social media, sparking intense discussions among fans and critics alike. While Wayne is undeniably responsible for giving Drake his big break under Young Money, Novi’s claim suggests his father had a deeper hand in shaping Drake’s artistry—perhaps even penning major parts of his catalog.

Novi’s remarks also resurfaced the lingering ghostwriting controversy that rocked the rap world back in 2015. At that time, Meek Mill accused Drake of relying on ghostwriter Quentin Miller for material on If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. While Drake addressed those rumors with a series of responses, including the now-iconic diss track “Back to Back,” Novi has taken the speculation further—claiming Wayne had significant input on critically acclaimed projects like Take Care and Views.

However, some fans are questioning Novi’s credibility. Given that he wasn’t even born when Drake’s breakout mixtape So Far Gone dropped in 2009, skeptics argue that his statements may stem more from loyalty than actual knowledge. Others see the comments as a clout-chasing move rather than a revelation grounded in truth.

Neither Drake nor Lil Wayne has responded to the claims as of now, but if history is any indicator, this won’t be the last we hear on the matter.

As the hip-hop world debates, one thing is clear: the lines between mentorship, influence, and authorship in rap continue to blur—and Lil Novi’s comments just reignited a long-standing conversation.
