Jada Pinkett Smith Fighting $3 Million Demand From Will Smith’s Ex-Friend

Jada Pinkett Smith is not backing down.

The actress has officially fired back in court against a $3 million lawsuit filed by Bilaal Salaam, demanding the case be dismissed entirely. According to newly filed court documents, Jada says the claims made against her are “false, uncorroborated, and made to generate attention” as part of what she describes as an ongoing campaign of harassment targeting her and her family.

Bilaal, who claims he had been close friends with Will Smith for 40 years, filed the lawsuit in November 2025 for intentional infliction of emotional distress. In his complaint, he alleged that Jada confronted him at a September 2021 birthday party and threatened him, claiming he would “end up missing or catch a bullet” if he continued speaking about her personal business. He also alleged she pressured him to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Jada, however, denies the accusations and argues the lawsuit is an attempt to punish her for what she calls “constitutionally protected speech” involving matters of intense public interest about her family. She further claims she never mentioned Bilaal by name in any public statements.

According to Bilaal, tensions escalated after he refused to assist Will with “crisis management” following the infamous 2022 Oscars incident involving comedian Chris Rock.

While Bilaal is seeking $3 million in damages, Jada is asking the court to toss the lawsuit entirely — and order him to pay her legal fees.

The legal battle is now set to play out in court, adding yet another chapter to the ongoing public scrutiny surrounding the Smith family.
