Drake Affiliate and Toronto Rapper Top5 Arrested on Firearm Charges After Police Raid

Toronto rapper Hassan Ali, better known as Top5, was arrested on January 24 following a police raid in Markham, Ontario, as part of a firearm investigation. The 26-year-old, often associated with Drake, faces several charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession while prohibited. Another individual, 29-year-old Yasin Ali (unrelated to Top5), was also taken into custody on similar charges.

This arrest comes after Top5’s release from prison last year, following the staying of charges related to the 2021 shooting death of Hashim Omar Hashi. Top5 gained attention during his release for sharing a now-edited Instagram post thanking Drake for assisting with his legal fees—a moment highlighted by DJ Akademiks before the post was altered to remove the reference.

Despite the charges in the 2021 case being stayed, Top5 has remained under public scrutiny, with those charges still eligible to be revived. Police continue to investigate the recent firearm-related case and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
