💔 Tragedy in Georgia: Body of Lil Jon’s Son DJ Young Slade Recovered From Pond

Heartbreaking news out of Georgia.

Authorities say the body of 27-year-old Nathan Murray Smith — known locally as DJ Young Slade and the son of rap icon Lil Jon — has likely been recovered after he was reported missing earlier this week.

According to police, the body was discovered in a pond near Smith’s home in Milton around 11:53 a.m. Friday. The Cherokee County Fire Department recovered the body from the water as dozens of first responders and the Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services Dive Team worked the scene. SKYFOX 5 captured footage of an object being pulled from the pond near Mayfield Road and Baldwin Drive and transported to a nearby tent.

Officials believe the body belongs to Smith, but formal confirmation is pending identification by the Fulton County Medical Examiner, who will also determine the official cause of death.

Lil Jon has been informed by authorities that his son’s body has been recovered. In a statement, the grieving father shared:

“I am extremely heartbroken for the tragic loss of our son, Nathan Smith. His mother, Nicole Smith, and I are devastated.”

Smith was reported missing on Feb. 3 after leaving his home around 6 a.m. without his phone. Milton police immediately launched a search, posting a missing persons alert to social media. By Thursday, law enforcement intensified efforts in the Mayfield Park area, deploying multiple K-9 units and even a specialized bloodhound from the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office, known for dozens of successful searches over the past year.

At this time, police say they do not believe foul play was involved, though detectives are continuing to investigate.

DJ Young Slade was known in the Atlanta area as a performer and creative spirit. Now, a father, mother, and community are left mourning an unimaginable loss.
