Angela Oakley Sets the Record Straight: “Charles Oakley Did Not Have a Side Baby on Me”

Angela Oakley, the wife of former NBA star Charles Oakley, is speaking out to clear up rumors surrounding their relationship. During a recent interview with KeKe on Chicago’s 107.5 WGCI, Angela addressed long-standing speculation about a supposed “side baby” during a difficult period in their marriage — firmly shutting it down.

“There was no outside baby,” Angela confirmed during the interview. “Our children are between the two of us.”

Angela explained that during a challenging time in their marriage — specifically after Charles’ highly publicized altercation at Madison Square Garden in 2017 — the couple did separate, but not in the way many assumed.

“When he got dragged out of Madison Square Garden — a place he gave his blood, sweat, and tears to — it was traumatic for him,” Angela said. “I didn’t recognize him anymore. I don’t think he even knew who he was anymore because everything he stood for had been ripped away.”

Angela emphasized that their separation was a supportive one. “I told him, ‘You go figure this out, and I’ll be here when you need me,’” she said. “But you can’t keep pushing my support away.” During this period, Charles took time to heal and reflect, and ultimately found his way back home.

Angela also addressed a misinterpretation involving talk show host Wendy Williams. She recounted a 2020 encounter at a party where she advised Wendy — who was then dealing with her own marriage troubles — to have grace, sharing her own past experience of being cheated on. However, Angela clarified that her story was misunderstood: she was referring to her daughter’s father from a previous relationship, not Charles.

“Wendy went on her big platform and made it seem like I said that about Charles,” Angela explained. “But no — Charles Oakley did not have a side baby on me.”
