Tyler Perry Is Opening Another Door for Filmmakers With New Specialty Label ‘Maxscene,’ Named After His Mother

Tyler Perry continues expanding his media empire — but his latest move is also about creating opportunities for the next generation of filmmakers.

Tyler Perry Studios has launched Maxscene, a new specialty label focused on expanding theatrical opportunities for independent filmmakers with distinctive voices and projects that may otherwise struggle to reach audiences.

The name carries special meaning for Perry: Maxscene is named in honor of his late mother, Maxine.

The new division will provide independent films with distribution support and a pathway to theatrical release. Antoinetta Stallings, Tyler Perry Studios’ Head of Development and Acquisitions, will oversee the label.

And THIS is what ownership can look like.

Perry spent years creating his own opportunities after repeatedly being told no. Now, through the infrastructure he has built, he’s creating another door for storytellers who may be facing some of those same barriers.

Tyler Perry Studios was already bigger than Tyler Perry himself. With Maxscene, that legacy continues expanding.

Head of Development & Acquisitions at Tyler Perry Studios Antoinetta Stallings will oversee the Maxscene division. Stallings previously served as VP of unscripted programming, where she launched the studio’s joint venture with Pantheon Media Group.
