Streamer DeenTheGreat Facing Up To 15 Years In Prison After Felony Robbery Charge Over Alleged Yacht Incident
Popular streamer DeenTheGreat is facing serious legal trouble after being charged with felony robbery in connection with an alleged altercation aboard a yacht in Miami.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, prosecutors charged Deen, whose real name is Nurideen Shabazz, with felony robbery and misdemeanor battery stemming from an alleged incident on May 27.
Authorities say a female acquaintance contacted police after claiming Deen became physical following a verbal dispute on the yacht. According to the woman, Deen became upset after other men attempted to speak with her and allegedly warned her not to entertain anyone but him.
The woman alleged that Deen ordered her off the yacht and grabbed her forearm when she tried to record the interaction on her phone, leaving a minor scratch on her arm.
Investigators say the yacht’s owner provided security footage that allegedly shows Deen putting his hands on the woman multiple times while attempting to take her phone. According to police, the video appears to show the woman struggling to hold onto her phone while trying to get away and curling into a defensive position during the confrontation.
When the yacht returned to the dock, officers were waiting to question Deen. Police say the account he provided did not match what investigators observed on the surveillance footage.
If convicted of the felony robbery charge, Deen could face up to 15 years in a Florida state prison.
Despite the serious allegations, Deen’s attorney, Richard L. Cooper, remains confident the case will not move forward.
“On May 27th Deen was arrested and charged with a 2nd degree felony, which carries a maximum of 15 years in a Florida prison,” Cooper told TMZ. “However, we still anticipate that this case will be dismissed by the prosecutors in short order. We look forward to resolving the case next week.”
As of now, the charges remain pending, and no conviction has been reached.
