The music world is mourning the loss of legendary R&B vocalist Peabo Bryson, who has died at the age of 75 after suffering a stroke.

According to his family, the two-time Grammy Award winner passed away Tuesday evening surrounded by loved ones. In a heartfelt statement, his family shared their grief while celebrating the extraordinary legacy he leaves behind.

Bryson’s unmistakable voice helped create some of the most beloved songs in music and film history. He became a household name through his unforgettable Disney duets, including Beauty and the Beast with Celine Dion and A Whole New World with Regina Belle. Both songs earned Grammy Awards, while “A Whole New World” made history by becoming the first song from an animated film to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Beyond his Disney success, Bryson built an iconic catalog filled with timeless R&B favorites, including If Ever You’re in My Arms Again, Can You Stop the Rain, Tonight, I Celebrate My Love and Feel the Fire.

For decades, Bryson’s smooth vocals and romantic ballads made him one of the most respected voices in R&B, influencing generations of singers and helping define the sound of adult contemporary soul music.

He is survived by his wife, Tanya Boniface Bryson, son Robert, daughter Linda Bryson, and three grandchildren.
