Sherri Shepherd Confirms Nia Long Was the Actress Who Confronted Her at the ‘Othello’ Premiere

Sherri Shepherd is setting the record straight and confirming long-swirling rumors — yes, it was Nia Long who confronted her at the Othello premiere.

During a candid interview on The Breakfast Club, the actress and talk show host addressed the now-viral story she previously shared without naming names. “Yes, it was Nia Long,” Shepherd said, confirming what many fans and insiders had already suspected.

The incident, which Shepherd first recounted during a comedic segment on her talk show, involved an unnamed celebrity confronting her at the premiere. While Shepherd tried to keep it lighthearted, speculation quickly pointed toward Long. Now, Shepherd is confirming the rumor — but says she’s still unsure why it happened in the first place.

“I don’t know who Nia Long had me confused with,” she told the hosts. “The only time I’ve ever talked about Nia was when I supported her during the infidelity situation with her ex. I said she deserves a good man — that’s it.”

Shepherd insists there’s no beef on her end, describing herself as a longtime fan of Long. However, she admits to being shocked by the physical nature of the confrontation, recalling how Nia grabbed and spun her around. “I’m a nice person… but I don’t like when people touch and tug at me,” she said.

Despite the tense encounter, Shepherd says she extended an open invitation for Nia Long to appear on The Sherri Show to talk things out. “We’re grown women. We’re the same age. Let’s just clear it up,” she said. “These social media beefs are young-girl behavior.”

Shepherd went on to share wisdom she once received from Whoopi Goldberg during her time on The View — advice that now shapes how she approaches celebrity drama. “Celebrities have long memories,” Goldberg told her. “You’re a Black woman. We’re the least protected.”

For now, Shepherd says she holds no grudge and hopes the two actresses can find common ground. “I’m cool,” she said. “If Nia ever wants to come on the show, I’d love to have that conversation.”
