Young Buck Gets 8-Year Sentence But Dodges Prison Time in Long-Running Gun Case

Young Buck has officially received his sentence in a legal battle that’s followed him for years — and while the numbers sound heavy, the outcome is far less severe than many expected.

According to reports from Nashville’s WKRN News 2, the former G-Unit rapper pleaded guilty on Thursday (Jan. 8) to being a felon in possession of a firearm and domestic assault, stemming from a 2020 arrest. Buck had been preparing to take the case to trial this year but ultimately chose to accept a plea deal.

As part of the agreement, Buck was sentenced to eight years. However, 30 percent of that sentence was suspended, and the remaining time will be served through community corrections — meaning he will not spend any time behind bars.

The case dates back to October 2020, when Buck was arrested following a domestic dispute. At the time, he faced multiple charges, including domestic assault, vandalism exceeding $10,000, and unlawful firearm possession as a convicted felon.

While Buck managed to avoid prison in this ruling, his legal troubles haven’t been without consequence. In April of last year, he was sentenced to 30 days in jail for missing bond hearings, which sparked protest rallies outside the facility from supporters who felt the punishment was excessive.

As of now, Buck’s team has not released an official statement regarding the sentencing. The ruling brings a major chapter of the rapper’s ongoing legal saga to a close — though his name continues to spark debate in hip-hop circles.
