Wendy Williams Guardian Files New Lawsuit Against A&E Networks, Accuses Them Of “Exploiting” Her For Profit

The guardian of Wendy Williams has filed a complaint against Lifetime’s parent company, A&E Television Networks and its executive producer, claiming they took advantage of the media personality and only paid her $82,000 for her documentary.
According to People, in the complaint, which was filed on Monday, September 16th, Williams’ team accuses the network of “humiliating and exploiting” her. They are demanding that A&E cover Williams’ medical care and supervision for the rest of her life. The suit also alleges that despite the company making “millions off Wendy’s back,” she only received the $82K.
The documentary, which aired on February 24th and 25th, reportedly attracted over 1.2 million viewers each night, with an additional 6 million tuning in over the weekend.
Sabrina Morrissey, Williams’ guardian, claims in the lawsuit that the network “kept filming, trolling for the most embarrassing and shocking footage to titillate and sell to their audiences.”
People reports that in February of this year, Creature Films executive producer Mark Ford said, “There was a guardianship in place the entire time we were filming with Wendy that was court-appointed to oversee her finances and her medical care. So I think the larger question here is about what can happen to someone under a legal guardianship if the family is separated from them and there isn’t somebody there on a daily basis checking in on their well-being.”
He added, “Wendy’s attorneys and the guardianship attorneys were consulted and signed off on the project. Once we started seeing the truth of the situation, we couldn’t ignore it. And the film had to go in the direction of the truth.”
