Tory Lanez Shared A Petition Urging Governor Gavin Newsom To Pardon Him

Tory Lanez has launched a public campaign urging California Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon him, following the emergence of new evidence and a near-fatal stabbing incident behind bars. The Canadian rapper, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.

Lanez posted a link to the petition on his Instagram, where his legal team claims he was wrongfully convicted. This follows a press conference held on May 14 by Unite The People, a nonprofit focused on criminal justice reform, during which attorney Walter Roberts asserted that Megan’s former best friend, Kelsey Harris—not Lanez—was the actual shooter.

“Mr. Peterson never shot anybody. Never even touched the gun,” Roberts said, citing newly surfaced witness statements. Activist and political commentator Gianno Caldwell also spoke out, declaring, “Mr. Peterson was never given a fair trial, free from bias.”

The renewed push for Lanez’s release comes just days after a harrowing incident in prison where he was reportedly stabbed 14 times. According to a post made on his Instagram account, Lanez sustained serious injuries including:

  • 7 wounds to the back
  • 4 to the torso
  • 2 to the back of the head
  • 1 to the face

The post revealed that both of his lungs collapsed, and he was initially placed on a breathing machine. Fortunately, it was later confirmed that he is now breathing on his own and in stable condition.

“Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through,” the message read. “He also wants to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support.”

With public support growing and questions surrounding the fairness of his trial mounting, Lanez’s team is hoping the petition and new evidence will be enough to secure a full pardon.
