HOLLYWOOD MOURNS: “ROCKY HORROR” LEGEND TIM CURRY DEAD AT 80

Tim Curry, the legendary actor who became a pop culture icon as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and terrified a generation as Pennywise in It, has died at 80.

Curry reportedly passed away late Tuesday night at his Los Angeles home. Law enforcement sources say officers responded to the residence around 11:23 p.m., with no foul play suspected.

Curry began his entertainment career in the late 1960s before landing the role that would change his life.

As Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Curry delivered a performance that helped turn the movie into one of the most enduring cult films in entertainment history.

He later became another unforgettable pop culture figure when he portrayed the terrifying Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King’s It.

His extensive résumé also included Clue, Annie, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, The Hunt for Red October, Muppet Treasure Island, Addams Family Reunion and Scary Movie 2.

Beyond his film and television work, Curry was highly respected as a theater performer. His career earned him three Tony Award nominations and an Emmy nomination.

His career continued despite serious health challenges. Curry suffered a massive stroke in 2012 that required brain surgery and later spoke openly about the impact it had on his mobility.

Around the release of his memoir, Vagabond, Curry revealed that he was still unable to walk.

Despite those challenges, his performances continued to leave an unmistakable mark on generations of fans.
